CALL MEETING TO ORDER

Chairperson Macro called the meeting to order at 7:35 PM.

ROLL CALL

Done, Chairperson Macro appointed alternates Peter Jennings and Walter Fitzpatrick to serve as regular members of the Commission for this meeting.

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION

None

APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING

A motion was made to amend the minutes of the March 2, 2004, to note that Commissioner Klein was absent.  The motion was made by Commissioner Pitcock, seconded by Commissioner Jennings and carried unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS

An application for a Certificate of Appropriateness for an addition was submitted by Mr. Nicholas D’Aiello, Jr.  It was discussed and recommended that plans be requested and submitted to the Historic District Commission consultant for comments.

Commissioner Jennings announced that the Union School Subcommittee has been requested to review concept plans submitted to the town.

The State Historic Commission’s survey of historic resources in South Windsor will be performed this year.


OLD BUSINESS

Loraine Jones explained that an estimate was received for wood shingles for $10,000 more than asphalt shingles. The existing cedar shingles require sealing every other year.  The entire roof requires a new surface. She presented a sample of Timberline architectural-“weathered wood” shingle that would be used. A motion to approve was made by Peter Jennings, seconded by Sherman Tarr.  The motion was approved unanimously.

Candida Ryan has not responded regarding her application for a stockade fence.  No action was taken, the application remains tabled.

Mr. & Mrs. Bellizzi submitted a plot plan to show the location of the driveway lights.  The application remains tabled pending review of final operational evaluation with actual rated wattage bulbs installed.

An update on Linquist property is not available due to illness of the Town Attorney.

New guidelines work is proceeding and a preliminary draft was presented.  The ordinance re-write is not available from the Town Attorney.

ADMINISTRATION

A file cabinet for the Historic District Commission will be provided in July 2004.

ADJOURNMENT

A motion to adjourn was made at 8:44 PM by Commissioner Sherman Tarr, seconded by Commissioner Fitzpatrick and approved unanimously.
